石破政調会長と会って思い出すのは5年前に対談した時の資料読み。農水族から防衛族へ転進。猛勉強で官僚をも論破するほどの防衛政策通に。特に憲法解釈、自衛隊法の不備などを批判し続けるが……。２０００年に防衛総括政務次官に就任した際、部下の課長から話を聞き驚愕の事実を知る―つづく。


実は自衛隊法の前身である警察予備隊令のかなりの部分をまとめた張本人が父であることを。そして戦争体験者である父は予備隊の「軍事的におい」を避け予備隊幹部就任を拒否した。それまで一度もそのことを知らなかった〜まるで父がダースベーターであったことを長じて知るルークだ。
