歴史家は、教訓史観を嫌う。

それはビジネス書が大好きな、古代ローマの偉人や戦国武将を見習い、

ヒトラーや中世の“暗黒の世界”を引き合いに出して、歴史から学べ！という常套句を繰り返すのが、

意味がないことを知っているからだ。

なぜなら、ある事実と事実の間には、複雑な相関性があり、

そこを一元的な教訓に落とし込むことは不可能であるからで、

また往々にしてこれらの教訓が導き出す、ありがたいお話は

“不合理で意地汚い”人間が作り出す歴史においては、間違っていることのほうが多い。
